Inspired by the traditional Japanese art of kintsugi - repairing broken ceramics while celebrating, rather than hiding, their cracks - this relaxed evening workshop will introduce you to a modern, accessible version of this beautiful technique.
Rather than disguising damage, kintsugi draws attention to it, creating striking golden seams that become part of the object’s story. It’s a lovely reminder that something doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful - and that repair can add character rather than diminish it.
During this 90-minute session, Betsy will guide you step-by-step through the modern kintsugi process using one of our specially made ceramic dishes. You’ll learn how to join, repair and highlight broken pottery, creating your own beautifully mended piece to take home.
And the making doesn’t stop when the workshop ends.
Every participant will also receive their own Modern Kintsugi kit, worth £15, to take home, so you can continue experimenting, rescue a favourite broken piece or give new life to ceramics that might otherwise be thrown away.
